Conference on the Church for God's Glory

Monday, May 20, 2024

10:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m

"TAKING HEED TO YOURSELF AND THE DOCTRINE"

This year’s theme is based on one of Scripture’s great imperatives for pastors from 1 Timothy 4:16: “Taking Heed to Yourself and the Doctrine.” This will be a simple day to encourage pastors and all to focus on the Christian life and the teaching of God’s Word. We have invited a number of speakers to encourage our attendees for the day:

  • David Huffstutler will open the day as the host pastor, preaching “Preaching Boldly to Build Up the Church” (Acts 9:19–31).
  • Steve Thomas will instruct us on how to handle Scripture’s narratives in a workshop: “Preaching God’s Stories without Missing God’s Point.”
  • Bruce McAllister will preach for us, “Devotion to the Lord and His Ministry” (Acts 20:17–38).
  • David Saxon will mix history with preaching in a workshop, “The Expository Preaching of Alexander Maclaren.”
  • Steve Thomas will preach from an Old Testament narrative, “The Troubling Story of Prophets, Boys, and Bears” (2 Kings 2:23–25).
  • Bruce McAllister will preach once more, closing the day with our theme, “Taking Heed to Yourself and the Doctrine” (1 Timothy 4:11–16).

The month of May is busy for many, but I hope you’ll be able to squeeze this one-day conference into your schedule. The preaching, teaching, and fellowship will be well worth your effort.

As always, wives are free to attend (but please still register), and there is a discount for students in college or seminary. We do not have staffed nurseries for the day, but our nursery rooms will be available mothers who wish to use them.
